Questions
Answers before you ask.
Application routes, fees, levels, exams: the things admissions is asked every week, in one place.
Applying
4 How do I apply?
Full programmes go through the Student Applicant form. Admissions replies with your placement check and an offer. The application fee is KSh 2,500, paid once per application, and applications close four weeks before each intake starts. Short courses and online-only study enrol straight into the LMS.
Do I need previous qualifications?
No. Bring a valid ID or passport, plus certificates if you have studied the language before. A free placement check before the first session sets your starting level.
When can I start?
January, May and September are the main intakes; each programme page publishes its own calendar. Applications close four weeks before every intake starts.
How many learners per cohort?
Cohorts are kept small so every learner speaks in every session, not just the loudest three.
Fees & money
4 What does a level cost?
KSh 42,000 per level, the same for every programme. You pay one level at a time, and instalments per level are available on request.
Is there an application fee?
KSh 2,500, paid once when you submit the Student Applicant form. It is not charged again for later intakes.
Is there a confirmation deposit?
KSh 5,000, paid when you accept your place. The full schedule comes with your offer.
Can I pay in instalments?
Instalments per level are available on request. Admissions will talk you through the schedule when your offer arrives.
Study & levels
4 How long does a level take?
About twelve weeks per level, including a final assessment.
Where do sessions run?
Kendahouse, 4th Floor, Nairobi. Events meet in the same building.
Can I study online?
Yes. Every programme lists its study modes (on campus, online, or off-campus), and short courses self-enrol through the LMS.
What does CEFR mean?
The Common European Framework of Reference: the A1 to C2 ladder that places every programme and exam on one scale employers recognise. Source: Council of Europe, CEFR levels
Exams
3 Which exams will I sit?
Each programme lists its exam pathway (Goethe, DELF, HSK, JLPT, IELTS and more), mapped to the CEFR level it belongs to.
Are exam fees included?
No. Each board sets its own fees, quoted separately when you enrol for a sitting.
Do I have to sit the external exam?
Every level ends with an assessment. The external exam is your choice: take it when an employer, university or embassy asks for proof.
Events & contact
2 How do I reserve a place at an event?
Call or message admissions with the event you want. Seats are limited, and the placement window is booked in time slots.
How do I reach admissions?
Call +254 714 772 289 or write to admissions@kiflaps.ac.ke. Replies come within one working day.
