The Kenya Institute of Foreign Languages and Professional Studies was founded in 2007 to give everyone a good command of languages and professional skills. We exist to transform inexperienced students into proficient, competent individuals who are ready to fit into a diverse global community.
At KIFLAPS Kawangware we bring that mission closer to learners in Kawangware and nearby areas through practical classes, flexible study modes, professional trainers and learner-focused guidance.

Which languages can I study at KIFLAPS Kawangware?
We teach Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Kiswahili, Somali, Spanish and local languages as Normal Languages, plus Dutch, Hebrew, Greek, Korean, Latin, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Norwegian, Persian and Polish as Unique Languages. Kenyan, American and Arabic Sign Language are also offered.
How long does each language level take?
Every level is 120 hours. You can finish in 6 months (Regular, 1 hour a day), 3 months (Intensive, 2 hours), 2 months (Super Intensive, 3 hours) or 1 month (Accelerated, 6 hours).
What do the CEFR levels mean?
CEFRL levels describe how well you use a language: A1–A2 basic, B1–B2 intermediate, C1–C2 advanced, followed by a Diploma level for expert, real-world application such as translation and interpretation.
Do you offer evening, weekend, private or online classes?
Yes. Morning classes start from 5:00am, evening classes run 5:00pm to 9:00pm, weekends depend on availability, private classes cost KSh 1,500 per hour, and online classes run on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.
How much do courses cost?
A Normal Language level totals KSh 42,500, a Unique Language level KSh 66,500 and Sign Language KSh 36,500, including registration, tuition, internal exam and certificate, and the course book. Tuition and the course book are charged per level of study. See the Fees page for every breakdown.
What do I need to register?
A filled admission form, a copy of your National ID, Passport or Birth Certificate, your Form 4 or latest academic certificate, two passport photos and the registration fee (KSh 1,000 for Kenyans, KSh 2,000 for non-Kenyans).
When can I start?
Intakes are done every month. After registration, trainer assignment and timetable setup, and payment of at least one month of tuition, you can start classes immediately.
Are external exams included in the fees?
External examination fees and external learning materials are not included unless stated. External exam charges are set by the respective examination centre.
Can my company or school book group training?
Yes. Corporate group training is charged per student per hour, from KSh 1,500 for 1–5 students down to KSh 200 for 26 or more.
How does translation work?
Send your document and language pair, receive a quote, pay a 50% deposit, and we begin. The balance is paid on completion, and your work is delivered digitally or physically.
